Court Filing Support
Issue, file, and retrieve court documents so litigation timelines do not stall on logistics.
Court filing support is the logistics layer litigation cannot skip: issuing, filing, retrieving, commissioning, and confirming that the document actually landed on the right court file. Investigations Plus runs this as a field service for lawyers and paralegals who cannot spare a clerk for a day in line, or who need a same-day issue in a courthouse that is not next door to the firm.
When this service is the right file
- A claim, motion, or order must be issued today and your staff are already in hearings.
- You need copies stamped and returned with confirmation of the file number.
- A remote firm needs boots in an Ontario courthouse.
- Search of an existing file, or pull of an exhibit, is blocking drafting.
- Filing must be paired with immediate service the same afternoon.
How the investigation is done
You send the documents, the court location, the fee instructions, and any special counter rules you already know. We attend, we wait, we fix the obvious clerk objections when they are clerical, and we call you when they are substantive. We photograph or scan the issued first page, return originals as instructed, and log the time filed. If e-filing is available and you want us to do it from our office instead of a counter, we say so — some files still require an appearance.
What you receive
- Issued or stamped copies
- File numbers and confirmation
- Time-stamped notes of the attendance
- Fee receipts
- A short email that counsel can drop in the file
Legal and ethical limits
We are not practising law. We do not give the clerk a legal theory. We do not alter sworn pages. Commissioning, where offered, follows the evidence rules. If a document is deficient, we stop and report rather than guess.
Who typically retains this work
Law firms, independent paralegals, and investigators who already have a related serve or locate on the same file.
Where we handle these files
Ontario courthouses are the working set. Federal or out-of-province registries are quoted as travel.
Related services
These investigations are often used together. Open any service to see how we handle it.
If the bottleneck is the counter, not the legal theory, send the package. Pair it with process serving when the next step is getting it into someone’s hand.
